Dogs and Cats Living Together Mass Hysteria

Just by reading the title you should know what’s coming up.  That’s right Chewie here with another game review and this time the title the game being reviewed is Ghostbusters the Video Game.  The versions that I’m reviewing today are the ones for the Xbox 360 and the Sony PS3.  Let me start by asking this.  Remember when you first saw Ghostbusters and thinking too yourself how awesome it would be to actually be a part of the Ghostbusters team?  Well with this game actually lets you be a part of the team.  You play the game as a new member of the team.  The concept of playing your own character is a great idea.  I know we all wanted to play as one of the original Ghostbusters but this is so much better.

You actually are part of the team and the rest of the guys actually interact with you and the guys actually help you when you go down if they are around of course.  You are taught the ropes by the original members and the actors have leant their voices and the writing of the game’s script was done by Murray and Ackroyd.  How great is that?

Now for the review the game plays well the graphics are great.  The 360’s graphics compared to the PS3 are a bit better but not enough to make you go and buy a 360 because the PS3’s are just as good.  Now the game play is actually very responsive a bit of a learning curve but nothing a couple of plays can’t fix.  There are basically three rules for fighting ghosts and they explain it with three words.  Zap’em, Cap’em, and Trap’em that’s basically it.  You first zap the ghosts to tire them out.  Then you capture the ghosts by using the controller to maneuver the ghosts to the trap and then finally you trap them.  Basically very simple and at the same time it can be a chore because if you don’t capture them in time the ghost will get a second wind and get loose and you have to try to capture them again.  But, once you trap then you then recover the trap and go to the next one.

But, again I’ll say that the games responsive controls and the great sounding music and background sounds makes this a game I’d highly recommend and with a decent replay value I see no reason this game would not be one of you top favorites.  If you were concerned about the game being campy you have nothing to worry about that since the  game contains enough humor in it to keep you entertained they even gave your character facial expressions to go along with the dialogue.  So all in all I give Ghostbusters 4.5 out of 5.

So go out and purchase this gem of a game.  And, with that this is Chewie signing off and be on the lookout for my next review coming soon.
